Gennene’s awakenings came at a time that she returned to school after dropping out of UCSD a decision that she viewed as one of her biggest failures. As a single parent, it was imperative that she be successful for her son’s sake so she competed in the work world at the expense of her emotional and eventually her physical health! She has excelled in her work history which included working as a counselor in residential treatment, Southwood Psychiatric center, MAAC Project in the Public Relations department, a CBO Black Federation and Girl Scouts of America doing In School Scouting. Coach Gennene has been in the Juvenile division of the Probation Department for 25 years and spent two years of that time as an armed Gang Officer.
Coach Gennene’s transformational journey took on a speed of epic proportions after her mother passed away unexpectedly. Her mother’s end strung along for fifty days during which the most painful experiences took place for her and her family. It was at that time that she took stock of her mother’s life and began to see the similarities as they related to hers. She states I realized that I had been living as if I was not worth the effort and others stories became my stories. I finally asked myself is that all there is????? NOT!
At that point, Gennene began to forward action in service to her sense of well being and experienced her gifts while moving forward in her journey! Learning self-acceptance, reframing how Gennene looked at her past, being open to receiving, as well as nurturing herself in the present have catapulted her into a world of abundance that she would like to share with the world! She is available for workshop facilitation and speaking engagements at very reasonable rates because this is her passion!
